Frederick Queen The Clan Graham Series edition by Suzan Tisdale Romance eBooks

I have now read and re-read this book three times, and loaned it to my husband (even gave him my old Kindle so he could have larger print. I knew I loved it, but to have him tell me as he read "I really like this one" It took me 18 years to convince him to read, and to know that he likes one that is special to me, is wonderful.

I wasn't at all sure this one would be something I enjoyed, but the individual journeys made by the "good" characters was sometimes a little slow (but then, isn't life?" Fredrick has to learn almost minute by minute because of the fear that all members of the clan have. After all, they have suffered through a long time of totally horrible life.

As those who have lived through years of terror, good things seem impossible. Each person suspects the reasons for anyone to do good. Fredrick, who has known only good, is confused, however he refuses to allow bad things to continue. He fails a little here and there, but overcomes in the end. Adversity seems to encourage him. Which is a good thing because there is a lot there.

A more vicious and hateful father, I have never seen. Though in real life I have known a few. The fact that so many agree with his methods and laugh at those who feel the brunt of his rage and hate, is hard to bear - but looking at our world today, maybe not.

The revelation on Aggie, is just precious, as she slowly, very slowly learns to trust, is beautiful. Not too much whining, nor distrust. And she is like a rose bud, that eventually opens to full beautiful view.

Thankfully, Aggie has had a few who love her and help protect her, but once Fredrick comes along, her natural strength is revealed as is Fredrick's courage.

Since I said at the beginning, I have read this three times, you know I like it. And it is now in my very short list of books I will read over and over. As I love to read, and read far too fast, new books are beyond my social security income and libraries are difficult to maneuver, re-reading is a good thing.

I do not expect everyone to like it as I do, but I do hope you will give it a try. Cheer Fredrick as he does his best to make things right and Aggie as she just plain survives - at least until Fredrick manages to win - good over evil.

Frederick Queen The Clan Graham Series edition by Suzan Tisdale Romance eBooks Reviews

I just finished Fredericks Queen and after the first chapter I realized that I had read it before but back in 2014 and didn't remember all the details but i couldn't put it down. The heartwarming love of Frederick for Aggie . He was a Man only dreams are made of and the suffering of Aggie was heartbreaking and I loved the wonderful ending. To me it was one of her best books she wrote and I have read them all. I realized I have also read Ian's Rose way back in 2013 and still have it my cloud and now I want to read that one over again because I want to read their story again. Going back on all her books I read and I read them all , I want to read them all over again. What I also appreciate in all her books that they are clean and leave some to the imagination. I could go on but all I can say she is one of my favored Authors.
This book was long but each page was filled with solid material. There was no need to skim and if you do you miss important points. Full of action, mystery, intrigue, horrid behavior, love and kindness. Tisdal is a superb author. There is so much activity and emotion woven into this story between Aggie and Frederick. She has been suffering horrible punishment at the hand of her father for actions and inactions of little consequence. He is going to marry her off to someone horrible. That is the plan, however, as nasty as the reputations the Mackintoshes have, they are only nasty in war. Domestically, they are caring gentlemen. This journey between Aggie and Frederick leads them to respect and care for each other as side characters- father, clan, friends, foes, etc deal with the outcomes of their actions as they strive to journey happily through life! You can almost guarantee a good read from Tisdal, that said, it is not all easy, and many times I wanted to give up, but I'm glad I stuck with it, because the resolutions of various situations are amazing!
This is a good Highlander romance, with a likeable couple. The heroine, Aggie, suffered horrific abuse at the hands of her father and others -- and I have to admit some of that was difficult to read. However, it was nice to see her slowly realize that not all men were monsters like her father, and that she could trust her new husband. It was sweet how they slowly fell in love, with the expected bumpy patches of an arranged marriage -- and especially with her absolute fear and distrust of men.

I do want to comment on some of the reviews, which complained about the "extreme violence" and horrific abuse in the story. If you choose to read historical romances in the time period of this book (early 1300's), you should be prepared for a lot of violence -- because it was a very violent era. Also, women were considered property in that time, and were often abused. It is likely this book is a sadly accurate depiction of life for many women of that time. If you don't want to read about violence or abuse of women, you should pick a more recent time period -- because it was common then. The author gave a fairly accurate portrayal of life in that time period.
