Throughout the Below the Belt series we have been able to read about so many characters working together to go beyond just being a Marine Corps Boxing Team, there has been romance and mystery. Now in the final book it means it is coming to an end and in true military fashion, everyone goes to a new location.

Kara's life is far from perfect it all started with her being kicked out her house as a teenager when she was 5 months pregnant at graduation. She continued to struggle but she tries to overcome it all by teaching yoga, doing a blog, anything to make a better life for her and Zach. It of course doesn't help that Zach's father is a douche bag and only wants to pay minimum child support. Then add in that Zach has serious food allergies and requires constant supervision which is hugely expensive and her life is a mess. So having a relationship is the farthest thing from her mind, even though this one Marine boxer is catching her eye as he has become friends with her son.

Graham Sweeney is every woman's dream man! I mean as soon as he is introduced to us, you start drooling over him and someone you definitely want to come home to. For he is not just a fine Marine Corps JAG officer but also an incredible boxer and an outstanding gentleman. When he first meets Kara, something about her makes him want her and badly. While the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach, the best way to a woman's heart is through her child(ren), so Graham makes sure that he knows exactly what needs to happen when Zach is around him. The afternoon he hosts a barbeque and has everything set up perfectly for Zach and he happens to loan Kara his sweatshirt when she is cold, he knows he has finally ignited a spark in her. A spark that he opens will open her eyes to see the magic that they can have between them if she just lets him in.

But of course you have to throw in the fact that there is still threats and sabotage against the team no matter where they are competing, that Kara cannot leave the state at all with Zach, and her ex is brewing his ugly head again and this turns into a heart stopping, mystery solving, love that can knock your socks off story!

As I mentioned before it was sad to see this series end because I love every one of them. Jeanette in her true author ways has captured our hearts with her characters and their stories. Each one having its own purpose and showing that there is a true Prince Charming out there for everyone. This series is one that you can't just have electronically but actually in your hands, so you can feel it up close and personal. Cannot wait for her next book for whatever it is I know it will not be disappointing.

Series First to Fight #3

--What are the Issues--
Kara is a single mom with a "sperm donor" (her words) who wants nothing to do with them and is constantly fighting the requirement to pay child support. Kara has been keeping men at a distance and avoiding dating because of the circumstances surrounding her custody agreement (view spoiler). Graham is very interested in Kara and really enjoys spending time with her 10 year old son, Zach, but he's also busy with the Marine Corps Boxing Team and the continued vandalism of their property.

--What I Liked and Didn’t Liked--
Writing, Pace, Voice -- Once again, I loved Jeanette Murray's writing in this one and her pacing was also great. There is more "action" in this one because we finally get to see the All Military Games. I thought the pacing was great throughout and even though I kinda saw the ending coming it was still good.

Plot and Series Elements -- We finally get a conclusion to all the training the men have been going through as well as an answer to the vandalism. With each book I've moved through different guesses on who is doing the vandalism but I finally narrowed in on someone just in time to find out I was right. I'm not totally happy with our vandal because I didn't want it to be this person, but of well. The overall plot was again focused on the training for the games and a large amount of the plot continues to take place at the training gym.

Hero and Heroine -- I love Graham's character, just like I've loved both Brad and Greg. However, I have to say that each of these men have a very consistent personality and characterization. I feel like Jeanette Murray just wrote slight variations of the same hero whereas the heroines are more diverse. That being said it's hard to dislike a guy whose just a gentleman, smart and helpful, and great with kids. The moments between Graham and Zach were so sweet! Kara was a bit more of a stubborn character, very set in her ways of doing everything on her own and never asking for help. This caused some head-butting between Graham and Kara but I appreciated how Kara came to lean on others and grow into the idea of being a family instead of a single entity.

--Final Thoughts--
I've really enjoyed the First to Fight series and can't wait to read more by Jeanette Murray. I especially enjoyed Graham, as Murray certainly knows how to write a good hero and again the humor was spot on.
I'm a fan of this author, but this book didn't live up to my expectations especially since it was so expensive. I had to reread the first couple of chapters a few times because it was hard to follow, but after that the dialogue flowed. Basically, it was a good story, but lacked hot,steamy and sexy. It was a bit lackluster.
